Terry Fator Providence Concert reviews
Overall great show, two complaints
The Terry Fator vocals sounded great, guitar, everything... in fact, vocals better than any in recent memory... Most significant for me is that Terry Fator did not play Fire Woman. It is one of their biggest hits, and not only my favorite Cult song, but my favorite song of all time - a "sort of" personal theme song. A VERY BIG disappointment for a long time fan such as myself. I waited all evening for them to play it, and thought they were saving it for the encore. They came out for encore and played something I didn't know at all, and then Sun King - NO FIRE WOMAN!!! I would have to think really hard before I pay to see them again for this reason... even though the band sounded great otherwise.
The second is the opening band, White Hills. I really wanted to like them as a female bass player myself... but I just couldn't. They are awful! The music was overly repetitious, the vocals were mystifying, and the guitar had way too many effects on it - all cranked up to max... the result was a lot of just plain noise!!! It almost seemed out of spite that the opening band was so unfitting (not to mention awful), and that they didn't play Fire Woman... don't know why I say that.... but maybe it's because Ian and Billy just look so grumpy and miserable the entire time they are on stage! Gave us both a headache (and I love loud music... it wasn't that!)
One more suggestion: reduce the time between opening band and headliner.. it was a full hour!!! Waaay too long when standing!! (too long even if not standing...really)
Don't tour anymore if your heart's not in it guys!
